A man and woman have sadly suffered injuries in a recent motor vehicle wreck involving a car and tractor-trailer in Illinois. The head-on accident took place in the early morning hours on a recent Sunday. Sometimes these types of crashes occur as a result of driver negligence, in which case the allegedly at-fault driver may be held liable for any injuries resulting from the accident.

How the crash occurred

The recent accident took place at about 5:36 a.m. Police said a 28-year-old woman was driving north along Interstate 55 when a tractor-trailer hit her car. The 57-year-old man who was driving the tractor-trailer was transported to a medical center with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening. Meanwhile, the female car driver suffered injuries that were considered to be life threatening.

A passenger in the tractor-trailer suffered no injuries in the crash. It was not immediately known how the crash occurred. However, authorities continued to investigate the accident.

Where victims can turn for help and support

Illinois police may determine through their investigation that the tractor-trailer driver caused the accident. In this situation, the injured female driver may opt to file a personal injury claim against the truck driver as well as his employer, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. She must establish liability before the civil court hearing the case before her claim for damages will be decided. If she is awarded damages, this may help to cover her medical bills and other losses stemming from the accident.
