A man’s life has sadly been lost after a car crash in Monroe County, leaving the community he left behind to grieve over his death. In addition, several other individuals were injured in the crash, which took place along Illinois Route 3. The accident took place while the man and a group of other individuals were on their way to a wedding reception.

Events leading up to the accident

The tragic collision occurred at about 5:15 p.m. According to police, a 20-year-old wedding groomsman was in a sport utility vehicle with several other people, including fellow wedding party members and the newlywed couple being celebrated. All of a sudden, a pickup truck reportedly hit the sport utility vehicle.

Police said the groomsman was ejected from the sport utility vehicle and ended up being pronounced deceased at the crash scene. Meanwhile, all other parties in the automobile were injured in the crash. However, authorities reported that the injury victims were expected to survive.

Legal recourse possible following the wreck

Police may discover through their investigation that the Illinois accident occurred due to the pickup truck driver’s negligence. For instance, perhaps the truck driver was speeding or driving while distracted. In this situation, the surviving family members of the man who died in the crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. If the family members are successful, they might be awarded damages to cover the man’s burial costs and other losses related to the accident.
