2 adults, 1 child killed in Illinois car accident

On Behalf of | Oct 4, 2022 | Wrongful Death |

Three people lost their lives in a tragic motor vehicle crash. The accident occurred on a recent Saturday morning. Often, these kinds of collisions are due to driver negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.

How the unfortunate incident happened

The Illinois crash occurred along Highway 336. According to police, a man was driving a pickup truck along the road just before the incident occurred. Meanwhile, a woman was operating a car on the highway.

Police reported that the two automobiles collided with each other. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the crash scene. A child was also killed because of the impact of the wreck. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

Seeking justice and monetary damages

Police may determine through their investigation that the tragic accident happened due to carelessness by one driver, such as driving while distracted. In this situation, the surviving loved ones of the other driver (and the child, if the child was riding with him or her) may choose to file wrongful death claims against the allegedly at-fault driver, seeking a judgment for documented monetary damages. Liability must be established in an Illinois civil court, based upon proper proof of negligence, before any claim for damages will be adjudicated. If the plaintiffs are successful in their claims, they may be entitled to recover monetary damages to cover the burial costs and other financial losses. A damage award may also help to cover the loss of support for any surviving dependents of the deceased driver who reportedly did not cause the crash.
