A man has sadly passed away in a car collision in Marion County. In addition, three other individuals have suffered injuries in the crash, which occurred on a recent Saturday night. Sometimes, these types of crashes happen due to driver negligence, which is grounds for litigation.
How the accident happened
The recent car accident happened at about 11:13 p.m. According to authorities, a car was driving in a road’s southbound lane and suddenly entered the opposite lane. At that time, the car reportedly struck another car.
Police said a 43-year-old man was driving the second car and was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the impact of the collision. Meanwhile, the first car’s 18-year-old female driver suffered injuries and was therefore transported to a hospital. The two passengers with her, a girl and another woman, were also taken to a medical center with injuries. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash.
Seeking legal support in the aftermath of an accident
Police may learn through their investigation that the woman who was driving the first car caused the Illinois wreck due to negligent driving, such as speeding or driving while distracted. In this situation, the surviving loved ones of the man who died in the crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against her. Likewise, her car’s passengers may file personal injury claims against her, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If the plaintiffs establish liability, based upon a showing of negligence, they may receive damage awards to cover burial costs, medical bills, the loss of wages and other expenses resulting from the accident.
